MANIFIESTO
Toda forma de expresión social/artística corre el peligro de ser arrastrada por la marea de la economía de mercado; la cual impone un modelo de sociedad/arte conformista, sumiso y superficial. Adormecida la capacidad de la cultura para cuestionar el “status quo”, el arte sufre de un intento de manipulación para su uso como un mero producto de marketing propagandístico al servicio de la perpetuación de intereses ajenos.
En este contexto, Bug Brother, resiste desde las trincheras del underground creando arte disidente en peligro de extinción. Que cuestiona y se rebela ante las contradicciones que implica la pertenencia a una sociedad mercantilizada, atomizada por las grandes corporaciones y los medios de comunicación. Sus obras de arte urbano y sus piezas de diseño de moda lanzan un grito contestatario dirigido a aquellos espíritus inconformistas que aún conservan la capacidad crítica y el pensamiento independiente.
BIOGRAFÍA
Bug Brother, artista nacido en Madrid, su trabajo le ha llevado a vivir en diferentes ciudades como Nancy (Francia), Edimburgo (UK), Londres (UK) y Houston (Texas USA).
Actualmente reside en la ciudad de Murcia donde compagina su labor como docente con la carrera artística y los estudios en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Murcia.
Después de toda una trayectoria de formación en pintura clásica, fue a la edad de 25 años en Alemania donde un grupo de artistas callejeros le enseñaron las técnicas pictóricas del arte urbano, realizando su primera obra sobre el Muro de Berlín. Desde ese momento utiliza estas técnicas y esa esencia alternativa en sus cuadros, pintando sobre lienzos de cemento que parecen haber sido arrancados directamente de los muros de nuestras ciudades; realizando la mayoría de sus piezas con público en directo en diferentes exposiciones y eventos artísticos en los más punteros museos y galerías de arte.
ART STATEMENT
All social/artistic ways of expression takes the risk of being absorbed by the market economy, which imposes a conformist and superficial model of society / art. Stunned the ability of culture to question the "status quo", art suffers from an attempt to manipulate its use as a mere product of propaganda marketing at the service of the perpetuation of the system.
In this context, Virtoc, resists from the trenches of the underground creating dissident art in danger of extinction. That questions and rebels against the contradictions that implies belonging to a commodified society, atomized by large corporations and the media. His works launch a rebellious cry that hopes to be picked up by those who still retain critical capacity and independent thinking.
BIOGRAPHY
Virtoc, artist born in Madrid, his job brought him to live in different cities such as Nancy (France), Edinburgh (UK), London (UK) and Houston (Texas USA). He currently lives in the city of Murcia, where he combines his work as a teacher with the artistic career and the Fine Arts studies at the University of Murcia.
After a whole classical painting career, It was at the age of 25 in Germany where a group of street artists taught him the pictorial techniques of urban art, painting his first piece on the Berlin Wall.
Since then he uses that transgressive spirit and painting techniques in his works, painting on concrete canvases that seem to have been plucked directly from the walls of our cities; creating most of his pieces with a live audience in different exhibitions and artistic events in the most modern museums and art galleries.
